Woo-hoo, smashed it!
In the spirit of the festive season (giving and receiving), and in conjunction with NESTA, I completed a charity fundraising bike ride of a 100 kilometres (105 km to be exact) on a folding bike (Tern Verge D9) on (almost) all the cycle paths in the New Territories, taking 6 hours (actual ride time: 4 hours 39 mins)! Traffic lights slowed me down… 🙂
The ride was livestreamed on Facebook and the route travelled was Yuen Long – Tin Shui Wai (Wetland Park) – Tuen Mun (Butterfly Beach) – Yuen Long (again) – Sheung Shui – Tai Mei Tuk (Plover Cove Reservoir) – Tai Po (Tai Po Waterfront Pier) – Ma On Shan (MOSTown) – Tai Wai! The weather was cloudy, very cool and I only got caught in one light drizzle so can’t complain!
The body felt sore afterwards, especially the back leg muscles and right kneecap, but nothing a celebratory drink couldn’t heal!
All monies raised before 31st January 2021, will be distributed 50% to local charity ImpactHK (a non-profit that provides the homeless in Hong Kong with friendship, food, shelter, education and employment opportunities), and 50% to the NESTA general account to fund activities such as student competitions and professional development.
Transfer funds to NESTA’s HSBC account no: 508-208063-001 via PayMe, any HSBC/Hang Seng Bank ATM or online banking.
If you have donated already, please send an email to [email protected] to let us know who you are so we can acknowledge and thank you!
A big thank you to Harry Harrison for providing a cartoon for this event!
